Transmission of the virus can occur in the uterus, during gestation or in the passage from the vaginal canal or by direct contact with adult animals that are healthy carriers.
The virus multiplies in the nasal mucosa, in the tonsils and then the infection spreads throughout the body causing the death of cells in multiple districts.
Prevention
At present, there are no therapies or pharmacological preparations that allow their control.
It is advisable to carry out repeated antiseptic washing of the genital tract before giving birth and to take care of the hygienic conditions after the birth of the puppies; in fact, the puppies themselves if affected by the virus can die within 24 hours!
